About The Event
This is a release-based and floor-work class influenced by David Zambrano’s technique and philosophy. The class is functional, dynamic, and energising; it focuses on enhancing external awareness, building stamina, and practising risk-taking and playfulness; it also includes somatic elements to develop proprioception. We will practise the softness of the joints in different orientations and explore the relationship between the centre and peripheries to use gravity and momentum.
The class starts with a warm-up focused on stimulating the senses through visualisations, massages, runs, improvisation and the ‘Five Tibetans’. The floor-work river will follow with the exploration of set movement patterns up to standing. The class will then proceed with longer set sequences to travel dynamically across the space and dialogue with the floor. The last part is dedicated to the performance by practising instant composition and interconnectivity. Music genres will be played throughout the session to facilitate engagement and presence.
